I have a 88 Bronco 2 with a 2.9 . My question is , I am replacing my fan belts . THEY ARE OLD !! LOL !! The ac currently does not work . Can i leave off the belt for ac ? Also found the hose that connects to the air box ( on bottom ) to manifold collapsed . Do i have to replace that or would it be better to leave off so it would get fresh air . I could clamp a piece of screen over the end of connection that goes to air box to keep debri out. Your thoughts would be appreciated .

"... Can i leave off the belt for ac ?"

Sure..., actually, it would be best to insp. an A/C compressor that's been out of service (beltless) for a long period of time B/4 installing a new belt.

"....air box ( on bottom ) to manifold collapsed"

Altering the air delivery system is not really a good idea. Your explaination is a bit unclear..., if it's plastic,

consider removing it & heating it with a heat gun, hair drier, or the like, & form to orig. shape.

If it's rubber.., patch or replace it....

---- A picture would be helpful..! ----

At work now so cant take picture . It is a flexible hose and I think i figured out what the lower hose is for . I think it is the preheat hose . I will replace it . The ac has a belt on it now . I just thought i would leave it off since it dosent work . But i think i will go ahead and replace it also . Thanks for the info .
