1973 EB hasn't been run seriously for 10+ years....

Been in the family since 87'

Picked it up this weekend on a Uhaul trailer.  Cleaned the tanks started looking for the filter, because I didn't see it up by the Carb, The only filters on the fuel system were in the tanks!!!!  I am guessing at some point they got removed!!!  Pulled the Holley out and my fears were confirmed.....  There we little piles of crap everywhere in it....  Rebuild kit coming today...  Holley 4412 bbl - I will need help tuning this when I get it rebuilt...

Fuel lines, fuel pump???  Should I just plumb a filter at the carb and plan on changing it every week for a while, or flush out the lines and pump????

I also found I have stripped threads on the oil drain plug?  I am not going to pull the pan at this point, anyone know a remedy?

As I said earlier.., those "clear inline" filters are cheap..,  & allow a clue as to what's traveling thru the lines.

You can put one B/4 the switch-over valve, B/4 the pump & B/4 the carb.  (carb may have a "cintered bronze" filter at the inport ******)

I assume you mean the pan threads are stripped..., not the plug.

You could run a tap to clean the threads & use a whole lot of teflon tape for a temp. patch.

You could tap to the next larger size.

There's *****-n-glue repair kits at the auto parts stores.

Hey Gen 3

As Bully said on the fuel lines and filter.  As for the drain plug, there are slightly oversize ones you can get at autoparts stores.  I had the same problem...took my bad plug in and got a replacement that cut it's own threads.

Just don't overtighten or you have the problem all over again.

Good Luck

"...only filters on the fuel system were in the tanks"

Those strainers on the pick-up tube get old & brittle.  Prob. best to put new ones on while appart.

BTW.., the orig. filter was next to the frame where the pump "OUT" ****** exits the pump.

Thanks.  Cleaned out the tanks, installed new strainer in the main tank and and in-line hose filter in just B-4 the carb.
