Just bought our new toy and after all the Usual tune up stuff I can't for the life of me get this 302 to run right.

What I did

Plugs/Wires/Cap/Rotor

New Battery

New Filters

The Truck also seems to dog down at a standing start?

I am just jumping back into the 4x4 race and need a push

sounds like a gummed up carb, I would recommend getting it rebuilt or even just cleaned out, and the bog from standing start sounds like accelerator pump problem, also associated with a clogged up carb.

an easy way to clean them out is to get a plastic tub just a bit bigger than the carb and fill it with gasoline or carb cleaner. then submerge the carb for at least a couple of hours so the chemicals have a chance to break down any crud.

then pull it out and with an air nozzle blow 10 to 30 psi of air through the fuel inlet tube and various other ports and places.

hang it upside down to air out and dry before putting it back on the motor. youd be surprised how nasty the gas or carb cleaner gets after a few hours with your carb in there.

So I am new to these forum things

Here's the deal

when I start the truck it starts and idles fine

when I put it in gear and start to Reverse or Forward it dogs down

It feels like it skips time or is not in time. Could a vacuum leak cause this.

Once the truck has been driven awhile it runs ok??

It just doesn't seem to have the power of a V8

Here's the Specks

1982 Ford Bronco

302 V8 Auto

I believe that it is mostly stock

Thanks

your electric choke is not working then or you need to give it a minute to warm up before driving.

Ok so she seems to be running much better but still have lots of problems.

In fixing her I have found that the oil pan has a hole the size of my thumb (about an inch)

I also have a crack in my TCase

I think I can fix the Crack with some jb weld has anyone else dealt with this?

How easy is it to find a 208?
