Hi All

I am in search of the Hydraulic Unit for a 4 Wheel ABS system as opposed to the Rear ABS only system. This needs to fit a 1995 Fullsize Bronco. As many of you have found out this unit is hard to locate and I cannot find anyone that remanufactures the unit. BBA Remanufacturing does not service this unit. The Ford number is F3TA-BE. Right now I would settle for a known working unit. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

Slightly Frustrated

Cheers

MW

yo,
Welcome!

Thanks for the Welcome!

I have found this forum to be wealth of information. Thanks for the suggestion of looking into Cardone. However I have already researched Cardone and have discovered they are a large remanufacturer of vehicle components for the aftermarket industry such as Auto Zone, NAPA, Rock Auto etc. Unfortunately Cardone has a bit of an error in their catalog and suggests that their part number 12-2025 is a 4WABS unit for the Bronco...it is not, the unit is RABS only. The error extends down to all of their suppliers such as Auto Zone etc.

After discovering by ordering a unit from Cardone and returning it, I moved on to BBA Remanufacturing. After being assured that BBA could remanufacture the unit, I sent the unit to BBA ....they were quick to reply and unfortunately now say they do not work on this unit. So I am waiting to get my hydraulic unit back from BBA.

As many have suggested, including my local Ford dealer.....just disable the light. The problem is that I do tooo much commuting in the ice and snow and really would like to have ABS for the unexpected fast stop.

So the saga continues....

Cheers

yo MW,

That is a shame that Cardone made that error and passed it along the supplier chain!

I'll check two other possible sources for you; one is former member who often tests the yard HCUs before selling
and the other is another Bronco forum.
I had to jumper out my Control Module because the microprocessors burn out; 2 yard Modules were also bad and I hear ya on wanting that 4WABS sys to operate!

If the motor is the reason you need another unit;
4WABS Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) Motor; "...pulled a motor off a crown vic, the unit it self was differant but the motor was the same. Cost me 20 bucks. OH and the wire conector was differant as well but I just drafted the one from the nfg motor on to the crown and it works great. That was 4 years ago. no problems yet...its only 2 screws that hold it in. And best part is it doesn't open the system so you won't loose fluid and won't need to bleed it. Now all you need to do is go to the bone yard and find one..."

The more I dig into this situation the more interesting it becomes. My local dealer even proudly ordered me a replacement part from my VIN number and when it came in - it was the RABS version not the 4WABS.

Super!

Unfortunately, the rear inlet valve on the valve block is defective. I have a spare motor and sure wish the motor was the problem....

Thanks for your help and suggestions. Let me know if you find one and I am still keeping up my looking.

The sage truly does continue....

Cheers

yo,
So far no luck on the yard puller who is probably on vacay and his sole HCU if for a 93 and he has no means to test it now.

or in other For Sale Boards.

also
For a YARD SEARCH on-line, I use;
http://www.mypartshop.com
Select All Parts
year, etc, then FORD TRUCK

http://www.copartfin...m/finderHome.do
HAS PICS TOO

Hopefully, you'll find a yard that will test it.

Thanks for the offer. The HCU needs to be a "f3" to work, so you may have a RABS only. I am only guessing as I am not familiar with that part number.

miesk5 - Thanks for all the help and suggestions through this endeavor :)

In a turn of events - Raybestos (who has remanufactured the units in the past and stopped) is going to run a limited production of the HCU and I have one on order. Unfortunately the run is scheduled for the first week of August. I can wait - I started this search the end of March. Good thing the brakes work without the HCU functioning.

Cheers
