I assume you plan a Suspension lift, re-gear... some fender trimming..etc. too?
Here are a bunch of Dana 44 SAS's in my broncolinks.com site http://www.broncolin...x.php?index=359

i was looking at going with a 6-8 inch lift and 3in body.4:88 gears with a detroit locker in rear 9in and true trac in front axle.to run 38s to 40s maybe 42s.this is my 13 yo sons bronco so probably will be in 38 - 40 range

I agree and would add "without upgrading to stronger axleshafts and other components". I'm running 38's on my 78 Bronco, with 4.88 gears, spooled 9" Currie rear, open front. I've had to upgrade to chromoly axleshafts in the front D44 to keep from constantly breaking the stock ones. I also just overhauled the 9" rear brakes, axle bearings and seals. A Dana60 is more suitable for 35" or taller tires. I'm only running 36" tires on the 84 Bronco with the D60 SAS. You don't always have a choice on what to use and may go ahead with what you have in the D44, then upgrade later if your driving style keeps breaking stock parts.
