I am going to attempt to install a stereo in my 74, but the trouble i had with the last one was it drained my battery. There are speaker wires, antenna, power, ground, and the remote wire. I need to know the easiest location and way to splice into the ignition or "remote" wire so that the radio cuts on and off every time I start the bronco.

the fuse box is located inside of glove box. the original wire for the radio was yellow/black,(according to the schematics) you might want to look for that, it may have been cut somewhere along the way by previous owner, unless the original is there. i ended up running my hot wire for my amp to the solenoid on the positive side (it has a fuse link of course), that way it shuts off when vehicle does, not sure if its the right thing to do but it works.

Can you elaborate what you are refering to as being the "remote" wire? There should be a wire on your stereo that is blue. That is the remote wire, if you hook power to that, that could be bad. The remote wire is not for the stereo, thats for the amp. Just wanted to clarify just in case
