I need a bit of advice on replacing an intake manifold gasket and a water pump gasket on a stock 302. I don't have my Haynes Manual w/me but I'll review it before starting. Are their certain type of gaskets that are better to use? Also, replacing the water pump gasket/s: is there a pump to plate gasket and a plate to block gasket? Should I replace both while I have it apart? I assumed I only needed to replace the gasket against the block but I think there are 2 and both probably should be R/R'd.

Any procedure tips are also appreciated!

Thanks...

Good Morning to you, Im new here but Iw ill offer my advise to ya! I am a ford motor co senior master technician with 22+ years experience and also hold ASE mastership. I definately would recommend to replace both of the water pumep gaskets. As fo the intake......you will get better sealability if you use a graphite based gasket such as ford factory or Fel-Pro. I will let you decide on the end seals yourself. I would just place a 1/4 to 3/8 thick bead of silicone on the end seal area, especially if your gasket set comes with cork. Hope this helped ya,GOD BLESS!!!
