I am converting my manual steering box over to power steering on my 70'. I have done all of the frame mods and now I am installing the steering pump. I have noticed that the steering box and pump are very close to each other. Is this the norm? Also the power steering hoses are either too long or too short depending on how I route them. Does anyone know if I can clock the housing that the hoses go into on the steering box without problems? This would probably fix my problem if I can...

Well that wasnt the final result, I just had the name of the actual part wrong. Thought it was the worm gear and it was actually the spool valve. But I did more research (haha) and called Benchworks and they said "no, by turning that you will creat all kinds of problems". So theres my final answer...Thanks again

When I did the Saginaw V-belt conversion on my 83 I made my own high pressure hose. I purchased the fittings and hose from a shop that does hydraulic hoses for heavy equipment.
Good luck,
If you are using a Saginaw, check the seat of the high pressure outlet there are two styles. One that has a beveled seat and one that has an "O" ring seat. Mine has a beveled seat as noted by the fitting in the picture and a picture of the two styles.

It is the 78 Bronco box with the 2wd spool valve. Bought it from West Coast Broncos. Nice kit. Have to grind some casting off of the gear box because it hits the bottom of the power steering pump and had a custom hose made today. Should be complete tomorrow.

I haven't seen that conversion in person, but the pictures are sure nice and I have talked to 1 other guy who did it and he was very satisfied. For your problem, if you are still stuck, call Dusty at WCB & have him talk you through it. He is a pretty good guy and will be more than happy to help.

They must be busy over there (WCB). I have left them a couple of voicemails and emailed all 3 available email addresses on their web site, still have not gotten a reply. Started calling a few days ago and emailed them 4 days ago. Either way the paint is drying tonight and will bolt it all up tomorrow.
