I am wanting to lower one of my 78 bronco,s this summer. Has anyone done this and if so. What all do I have to do. Get shorter -stiffer springs for the front and (I am not sure)put my rear springs on the bottom of the rear axle.I would like to lower it between 6-12 inches. Any suggestions would be helpful as I want to start getting the parts what I will need now. So I will have everything ready for nice weather . To have it all ready and to complet the job.

One easy trick to lowering the back is to mount the leaf springs on the bottom of the axle instead of the top. This would only give you a couple inches of drop but its a start.

Well as much as I can get it down. I figure it would really be great on slick roads. It goes good now,but sometimes . It has the tendecies to go sideways(broadways) on the road at about 45mph. I will check out springs on a big old Ford-like a Galaxy or LTD and take measurements. I am also gonna look at different springs -that have different bows and see what I can come up with. What ever I come up with. Their will be measurements and -when I get it done-before and after pictures and measurements------I will be posting them on hear. I,ll also take in consideration . The size and weight of the other vehicle-so that I can get a close-to size as a 78 bronco.Thanks alot for you idea and input. Its appreciated.

UPDATE-UPDATE-I stopped today and looked up under the back of my 78 Bronco. From what I see to lower it(putting the springs on the BOTTOM of the axle. I will have to take the spring rerch(where the springs aly on and locate it on the bottom-after I take off the rear sway bar. I will have to put the spring perch on the bottom and the sway bar bracket on the top. A job for my friend since I do not have a welder.,but he is good at doing things like that and dependeable--I know it will be done right and no short cuts.In case someone else is thiniking about lowering their bronco-I hope this bit of information will help you also.
