I workin on a 302 that I pulled out of my 68 bronco, and because of some worn teeth on the flywheel gear I want to replace the gear, the flywheel itself is in great shape,,
Lookin through catalog from different supplyers you can buy just the gear they all sell them, so thats what I did, but now that I have it I dont see how the old one comes off, does anybody have any idea, it almost looks like its one pice, I can see a line that looks like a seam on one side but not on the other.

1st.., Count the teeth (compare to the old ring) to be sure you got the right ring gear.

(using safety gear)
To re-install.., freeze the plate & heat the ring in the oven...then press together....allow temp to balance.

As for removal., (with safety gear) I assume one could (carefully) cut thru the ring with a makita hi-speed cut-off wheel.

Having NOT done this myself.., only read ...let's see if someone chimes in that has completed this task...?

BTW..,
You should have a shop re-surface the flywheel anyway. (Assuming it has been used)
And., inspect the pressure plate...& probably a new clutch disc & T/O bearing, & pilot bushing.
Cheap insurance...., & always wise to do while apart if not already done. B)

Oh.., & don't forget the rear main seal......
