79 400 Require a cooling fan clutch?

Did the original 79 Bronco 351/400 come with an Engine Cooling Fan clutch? I am trying to find the proper radiator shroud and while doing research find that my fan only enters the deepest shroud 1/4 inch. Looking at the clutches it would place the fan 1/2 way in so I am thinking it is missing or I need a 4" fan spacer which is unusual. Appreciate any feedback

Both my 78 and 79 have fan clutches.

Both mine does,but I am pretty sure the 400 has about a 3 inch spacer. I,ll look today.

I have never seen any of the factory fan clutches with spacers, and I have owned 6

I generally put those type fans 1/2 in, 1/2 out the shroud, if flex I'd place 3/4 into a shroud. So there's that~

I looked on mine today. That has the 400 motor and it does. Its about 3 inches
