I have an 84 Bronco with a 302 automatic. I live in alaska so i blame most of my problems on that. Moving on... I was gone for the last month. Got to the truck fired it up and it did just fine. 2 days went by no problems. All of a sudden when I turn the key i get a high pitched repeating clicking sound coming from the starter solenoid. I replaced the battery. The engine cranked once then the clicking again. I replaced the starter solenoid, same issue yet again. Pulled the starter off, had it tested, it did just fine. I can't figure this one out any suggestions would be helpful. I have also checked the wiring around the starting components and everything seems to be fine. I'm stumped on this.

try starting it by jumping the solinod posts with a screw driver........if that works you have a faulty solenoid

How cold is it? Do you have to use special lubricants on the bendix drive?
I believe that I read that Hitler had a problem with his tanks in the Russian winter in part because they didn't have the right lubricants for the severe cold they encountered.

Possibly the cable from the solenoid to starter or the battery ground cable to the engine block. Clean the connections. The cold will definitely have an effect on the connections. If you keep it outside and don't have one, a case heater would be good in that area.
