My starting issues come and go, but now it appears to be fuel related. My last fuel filter didn't last that long and was pretty dirty, so I'm sure it's a tank issue.
Before I take the current filter off, I'd really like to swap it for a different type. I have a 81 with an 86 FI engine setup. The current filter is a canister type, dual port. While I like the ease of unscrewing it to just pop the old filter out and put the new one in, the o-rings that they come with don't quite fit right, so it's a major pain to get them back on (rings are slightly too large, I've accidentally cut more than one making me have a supply of extra filters laying about as I couldn't just buy the o-ring).
I'd like to see what options I have for replacing the filter housing all together. What ideas are out there as viable options?

here is what JK did; "...
use something tacky to keep it in place when you go to thread it back on otherwise you'll squish it and it will piss gas all over, also the bottom part needs to be threaded all the up without any gap at the top also will piss gas if incorrect.
I used a small model paint brush almost DRY with Permatex for the inside "O" ring track just to get it to set up to keep the "O" ring in place when screwing it back together and it worked fine, the amount of Permatex was insignificant with no potenial to impead anything, but use what ever you like.
IIRC the "Reservoir" was designed to keep the fuel pumps supplied from starving when the vehicle is at different positions, cornering, off road driving etc..."
A more $ option is; "...B.C. Broncos takes the fuel accumulator concept one step further. Now you can combat fuel starvation while assuring clean fuel and eliminating the potential of sediment buildup in the accumulator! Uses standard spin-on fuel filters available at any parts store. The kit comes complete with filter and all fittings you need to install into your existing fuel injection system.getting fuel. .." $65.00

Thanks Miesk! I saw that bc bronco accumulator too. I think I'll probably switch to that during Christmas break.
