i have 1985 f150 4x4 when parked or brake on steering locks up 1/2 turning left or right . ball joints and tie rods ok help

Can you describe your problem in better detail? Give your whole problem in the best detail you can and everything you have done to figure it out including why you think the ball joints and tie rod ends are good.

i checked out ball joints and so did auto mechanic. i replaced 1 tie rod and twice the steering pump..when standing still not all the time depends on surface. steering hangs up to the left or right . if u force the turn it will go. does not do when driving. thx sleep.gif

Silly question have you checked the belt tension on the pump....Cause a belt slipping at idle could make it hard to turn but as you add rpm's it's easier...If the belt is tight could be be a steering box issue..... cool.gif

sounds like the steering sector(gear box) has serious issues internally
