Real Quick. I have a 1994 bronco with a 5.0 I have a mech. who is telling me that his 1990 5.8 will work in my bronco. He said that all my equipment even the 5.0 plenum would work on his motor. My 5.0 has a mass air meter. will all this work? Please help before I waste a ton of Cash....

You will need the computer from the 351. How complete is the engine? You will need the injector harness as well I do believe.

So what you are telling me is that he cant just relace the motors. The 351 does not have a fuel injection system he is going to use mine.

The non-H.O. 302 has a different firing order than the 351. I am unsure if the computer will correct the firing order or if the harness has to be changed.

Id suggest looking into another mechanic . The 5.0 mass air system would probably support a 5.8 . The Ho 5.0 has the 5.8 firing order so that would be ok but there is absolutely no way that the 5.0 plenum is bolting to that 5.8 they are totally different . The ports on a 5.0 are round and the 5.8 are like a d shape maybe a bit more square . Ask him if hes going to support it after the install until the drivability is there ? The wiring is going to be a little complicated as well 92 was the cross over yr for a few things and the wiring for who knows why changes drastically . You will need electrical prints and Im not talking Hanes manual . Oh and dont forget you cannot use that 5.0 flexplate on the 5.8 it will vibrate like crazy . biggrin.gif

Now don't be so quick to asume your mechanic is wrong. It is true the firing order is different and the injectors are wired to go along with that again that is were the computer makes the difference. I would tell him to try it if he thinks it works. I recall the intakes do look similar. As for the the block and heads... they are not that different then the 302 the only problem i see is the cam becasue it is lubed for the fireing order of the orginal 351 computer and will not work in you case. If the cams can swap out then i see no real issue. Keep in mind that ford changed the firing order of the 351 campared to the 302 for a reason... performance? economy? balance of the motor? all are factors when ford produced that motor. Just tell him it on him if it dosen't work...
