I just finished putting replacing my Block Heater in my 84 Bronco. The motor is a 1972 302. I just wanted to give some information as to how I did it, as I couldn't find much info any where else.
Step 1. Drain Rad
Step2. Remove Starter
Step 3 Remove Freeze Plug or Malfunctioning Old Block Heater
-this was accomplished with unscrewing rusty ****** and chiseling with a hammer and screwdriver around the outer edge of the old Block heater disk, I ended up ripping the Block heater cord connection out of the heater. I chiseled until the Heater element disk rotated and I was able to finally pry it out.
Step 4. Clean hole and surrounding area with a rag
Step 5. Lubricate Hole with antifreeze
Step 6. Lubricate New Block Heater with Antifreeze
Step 7. Insert plug into hole and ***** in firmly
Step 8. Route Block Heater Cord to Heater connection and Plug in (ensure its not touching Exhaust system)
Step 9. Re-install Starter
Step 10. Add required amount of coolant
Step 11. Bobs your Uncle
Hope this helps anyone that's lookin fer help..
I don't know much fer shure, and this just might prove it...
