Will the Performer work better than performer RPM on the stock motor? Performer RPM says designed for 1500 + RPM and some mods, and performer is Idle-5500 (something like that) and for stock motor.
Just picked up this "barn find" 76 Explorer package and starting to go through it a little. Super clean unit, its a running/driving rig...biggest issue now is it stalls when i put it in gear. (tourqe covertor locked up maybe?) Heres the specs: 76 Explorer 302 electronic ignition Performer RPM w/Holley 600CFM Both tanks brand new, new last night: Fuel filter, Plugs/wires/accell supercoil previous owner just put All new bushings and 4" superlift also new brakes on all 4 corners! (nice to have disk brakes too!) Super solid tight bronco, just need to get a few of these bugs worked out, hope i dont have to rebuild the tranny right away but i've felt this locked up torque converter thing before Any advice on the intake or my stalling issue or anything at all relating to the bronco would be greatly appreciated! -------------------- 76 Bronco Explorer

Since its a stock motor, I'd stick with the performer. I think the RPM intake is better suited for motors with high lift cams or high output engines. As far as the stalling issue, have you checked your carburetor idle speed?

As far as the stalling issue, have you checked your carburetor idle speed? I agree with sticking w/the strait performer over the Per RPM. I will have to put an ad in craigslist to see if someone wants to trade. Is the idle speed set with the set screw the just adjusts the linkage? or an actual idle screw on the carb somewhere? Carb is a holley 600cfm. -------------------- 76 Bronco Explorer

the idle screw should be on the carb on the left side right next to where the linkage hooks up to it. it should be a flat head screw with a spring on it.

I have found the hot idle cam, the idle mixture screws on each side, and the fast idle screw under the electric choke. I think i have it pretty close now except i still want to get rid of the Performer RPM and go to a Performer. -------------------- 76 Bronco Explorer

Got a perfomer intake coming so i have a nice used performer RPM for sale if anyone is interested or know anyone that is. got it running good too. Choke was sticking. Now on to getting my gauges to work right. -------------------- 76 Bronco Explorer
