On my 69 bronco, the rear hatch rod is broken at handle in center. I purchased a new rod and attempted to get out the old one. Removed inspection cover on right side inner hatch. Looks like a roll pin holds the rod into latch. Tried to pull pin out but not budging.
 Do I need to remove the roll pin first or is there another method. I also removed the screws that hold the right side latch in place but this did not seem to help either. Thanks! |

I've done so many of these.....but honestly., don't remember the proceedure as it was so straight forward....
 That whole assy. comes out & all the pieceie-parts are replacable. I do recall a roll-pin so yah.., just to repl. the rod., use a pin-punch but don't lose the pin. Broken rod should slide right out. One tip (while you're in there) would be to stuff some soft foam, or the like, in that cavity.....I eliminated several rattles doing so.

I tried removing the complete assembly but has been a battle. Does not come through the latch hole & has been a battle going towards the handle.
I will suck down a pot of coffee this morning and give it another go. The foam is a great idea Bob! Thanks for your input. |
